Jinks Responds To Fishbein's Claims He Doesn't Support Police

Jim Jinks, a candidate for state representative, issues statement in response to claims that he is in favor of cutting funding for police.

Press release from Jim Jinks:

Oct. 13, 2020 My opponent continues to play partisan politics and run based on the 2020 GOP playbook – stoking fears, false narratives and not letting facts get in the way.

Mr. Fishbein has repeatedly claimed that his challenger, Jim Jinks, is in favor of cutting police funding. But nothing can be further from the truth.

Councilman Jim Jinks says, ''I've voted not once but twice in the past year to fund our police department in Cheshire. In fact, one time was a vote in favor of purchasing new protective, tactical vests for the Joint Cheshire Wallingford SWAT team.''

Jim went on to say, ''I'm also the Council liaison to our Public Safety Commission. Where we meet regularly to discuss how to improve public safety in Cheshire and how our citizens can be partners with our police department to improve public safety in town. I also work directly with our police department on safer streets initiatives – including adding bike markings, signage and Bike-to-School Days. So my respect and support for police officers and our local police departments is clear.''

''It's a shame that this is where we are but this is just another example of Mr. Fishbein's divisive brand of politics. He's just making things up about me and our campaign. But we've come to expect this from my opponent in the 90th district. The voters deserve better and to be treated with more respect.'' Jinks said.
